Bedfordshire is a beautiful county located in the East of England, and it is known for its vibrant and diverse towns, picturesque villages and stunning countryside. The county offers an excellent quality of life, and it is a popular choice for those looking to relocate to a quieter area that is still within commuting distance of London.

As we approach 2023, the housing market in Bedfordshire is expected to remain strong. With the ongoing pandemic, more and more people are looking to move away from the city and settle down in more peaceful and spacious areas.

Here are the five best places to live in Bedfordshire going into 2023.

1. Bedford

Bedford is a charming and historic town with a lot to offer. The county town of Bedfordshire is situated on the River Great Ouse, and it has a rich cultural heritage, with several historic buildings and museums. Bedford is also home to various independent shops, restaurants, and cafes, making it an excellent place for foodies and shoppers.

2. Luton

Luton is a bustling town in the south of Bedfordshire, home to a diverse population. The town has much to offer, with many shops, restaurants and entertainment options. It is also home to Luton Airport, which provides a variety of international flights.

3. Dunstable

Dunstable has a range of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, and it is an excellent place for those looking for a quieter way of life. The town is a small market town located in the southwest of Bedfordshire, and it is known for its stunning countryside and historic buildings.

4. Barton-Le-Clay

Barton-Le-Clay is an ancient village that has existed since before the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. It is situated in Central Bedfordshire and shares a border with Hertfordshire. Beautiful natural landscapes surround the town, including the Barton Hills, part of the parish. There are several places to dine in Barton-Le-Clay, including two bakeries, a gourmet café/burger restaurant, and various takeaways. Additionally, a few traditional pubs have recently been refurbished for those who want to enjoy a drink. Although there are not many shops in the village, visitors can head to The Olde Watermill shopping village, which features various shops, such as craft stores, house plant shops and a mini golf course.

5. Ampthill

Ampthill boasts a widely known large park that was once King Henry VIII's hunting ground. Today, the park features a cafe, a play area, and vast open spaces for walking. It also hosts annual events, such as the Gala weekend in July. The town offers an array of pubs, from The White Hart with its spacious dining area to smaller ones like the Engine and Tender, where live sports can be enjoyed. The Hide is an excellent option for a lively late-night drink. Ampthill also provides various dining options, including Italian, Indian, and burger establishments. Additionally, the town has numerous independent shops for visitors to explore.
